Twitter & the UN – Twitter & la ONU

An ongoing battle against censorship (Español)

On Friday, June 26, 2020, I saw a video on the online platform and social media website 9gag, this video shows footage of an apparent sex act in one of UN’s official cars:

Original

After fact-checking the video on a BBC article published on June 26, 2020 at 10:10am local time, I decided to share the video in Twitter with a link to the 9gag post, so I downloaded the video from 9gag in H.265 format, then I re-encoded the video to H.264 to make it compatible with Twitter standards, and finally, at 1:10pm local time, I uploaded and published the video in Twitter with the caption in Spanish:

Which in English would be: “Those friend from the UN are always celebrating/partying their contribution with the world hahahahaha when they are not raiding presidential houses, they are doing this: https://9gag.com/gag/azm9L7z“.

Just within a few seconds my account was locked, and I received the following message:

In less than a minute, my account was locked, so I waited for my punishment to end, the 12 hours lock, then I proceded to do as daddy Twitter wish from me, a deplorable nasty little boy who though anyone could report this kind of abuse from a corrupt power like the UN, to get my account back, I just had to follow a simple procedure, two simple steps, first I get to know my dirty sin, violating holy commandments of the always changing Twitter rules:

Then I had the privilege to this false dichotomy of deciding whether I wanted to appeal this draconian measure, or get my account back, of course I could appeal but without having my account back, sorry, I meant Twitter’s account which I have the privilege of managing some time:

So I did what any good follower of the sacrosanct technocracy would, I accepted my dirty sin renouncing any further procedure in order to be able to speak out my mind, well, what Twitter wants me to speak out, because we don’t want to make Twitter upset with us so it can punish us again. I also accepted to be marked with the scarlet letter or with the star in the chest having my content in the timeline replaced with the notice stating that I, a deplorable sinner, have violated the all knowing, holly and always changing Twitter rules:

But here is the deal, after returning to Twitter I found out that the user @MatteaMerta posted the very same video without any issues. How is this possible?:

A long battle with Twitter

Since 2008 I use to be one of the first Guatemalans to promote Twitter in Guatemala, my first account @RodrigoPolo was suspended without violating any of the Twitter rules, and I got impersonated several times, here is a short video explaining that issue and a post I wrote at the time: https://frenteporlaverdad.cs.gt/2020/04/02/the-twitter-rules/

On May 2, 2020 at 7:45am the Twitter account @reairodrigopoio with the ID (1256489775189708801) was created for the purpose of impersonating my account to misguide my followers, I reported the account and it took 22 days to be taken down, on April 6, 2020 at 4:00pm the Twitter account @reairodrigopolo with the ID (1247192195142221824) was created for the same purpose, I have reported the account since then without success, if only I worked for the UN it would take Twitter less than a minute to have this account banned.

Now, I have been impersonated so many times that I can’t count them, I believe that was the reason which got banned the first time. We all know the Twitter rules are enforced only on those who speak anything that the left disagrees with, the left doesn’t censor their people, and I don’t promote censorship from a social networks, it’s a never ending losing battle, so Why don’t give me a blue-check mark or create a new mark for parody accounts? There should be some way to differentiate those who are misrepresenting a user and the real user behind a social network, and I cannot believe that Twitter can lock an account within seconds but can’t see false “parody” accounts, it is simple, unacceptable.
